Walz Video Surfaces Praising Imam Asad Zaman

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is facing backlash after newly uncovered footage reveals his praise for an imam with a history of promoting antisemitic content, despite previous claims that the two had no personal connection.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has come under scrutiny for his past praise of Imam Asad Zaman, a figure who has shared controversial content, including material promoting Adolf Hitler. Despite the Kamala Harris campaign's assertion that Walz did not have a personal relationship with Zaman, evidence suggests otherwise.

Reporting from the Washington Examiner, cited by Breitbart News, indicates that Walz appeared on several occasions with Zaman, who has also been known to justify Hamas violence against Israel. Moreover, the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, which is associated with Zaman, received state grants.

The Harris campaign downplayed Walz's connection to Zaman, but video evidence uncovered by journalist Gabe Kaminsky reveals that Walz referred to Zaman as a “master teacher” and mentioned the time they had spent together. This footage was taken at a 2018 event hosted by the Minnesota Muslim American Society, where Walz expressed gratitude to Zaman.

This revelation has drawn criticism from various quarters, including the Anti-Defamation League, which has highlighted Zaman's history of invoking anti-Jewish tropes and justifying violence against Israel. Walz's support for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has also been criticized for her views on Israel, has further fueled the controversy surrounding his relationship with Zaman.
