Several relatives of Democrat vice-presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz have shown support for Donald Trump, with his brother Jeff Walz publicly criticizing the governor and expressing a conflicted interest in endorsing Trump.
Several relatives of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democrat vice-presidential nominee, have expressed support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. A photo shared by Charles Herbster, a former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate, shows individuals wearing "Nebraska Walz’s for Trump" T-shirts. These individuals, related to Walz through his grandfather's brother, were confirmed by a representative.
Trump acknowledged the support in a Truth Social post, thanking Jeff Walz, the governor’s brother. “Thank you very much, Jeff,” Trump wrote. “It is a great honor to have your endorsement. I look forward to meeting you soon!”
The photo emerged after Jeff Walz publicly criticized his brother's political stance. In a March 2023 Facebook post, Jeff Walz expressed strong disapproval of Tim Walz’s ideology and noted that he had not spoken to him in eight years. He added that he was opposed to his brother’s policies and mentioned issues related to security and family communication.
Jeff Walz, who lives in Florida, has indicated he is conflicted about publicly endorsing Trump, stating he is torn between supporting the MAGA movement and keeping his family out of politics.
Tim Walz has three siblings: Sandy Dietrich, Jeff Walz, and the late Craig Walz. Craig Walz died in June 2016 in a camping accident during a storm in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
