Wall Street Journal Reports Biden Mentally Slipping

Amidst whispers of cognitive decline, President Biden's leadership faces scrutiny, prompting questions about his ability to steer the nation through turbulent times.

A new Wall Street Journal report raised concerns about President Biden's cognitive abilities, with some individuals describing instances where his speech was barely audible, and his grasp of policy details seemed inconsistent. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy noted a noticeable change in Biden's demeanor, highlighting his dependence on notes and frequent deferral to aides during discussions.

During critical negotiations over congressional funding for Ukraine aid, participants struggled to engage with Biden, who often took long pauses before speaking and relied heavily on note cards to communicate points already agreed upon. Some attendees expressed discomfort with the situation, noting that much of the conversation didn't involve the president directly.

In another instance, House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed concern to Biden regarding the administration's natural gas export policy, only to find out that Biden seemed unaware that the policy was already in effect. This lack of awareness left Johnson dismayed.

Former Speaker McCarthy recalled instances where Biden's ability to lead varied from day to day, particularly during tense negotiations over raising the debt ceiling. Despite repeated attempts to clarify key points, Biden's responses remained vague and generalized, leading to frustration among lawmakers.

The report also touched on concerns regarding the administration's transparency, with the Justice Department refusing to release tapes of Biden's interview with former special counsel Robert Hur in a classified documents investigation. Some speculate that these refusals are linked to concerns over Biden's cognitive state.

Despite these allegations, the White House maintains that Biden remains an effective leader with a strong legislative record. However, as the oldest president in U.S. history, questions about his ability to serve another term persist.
