Fond Du Lac Authorities announce Two Illegal Aliens have been charged with the Sexual Assault of 12-Year-Old Girl.
Two undocumented immigrants found themselves facing legal repercussions in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, accused of a harrowing crime involving a 12-year-old girl. Elia Antonio and Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia were implicated in an alleged sexual assault, as detailed in court documents and official releases.
The Fond du Lac Country District Attorney's office, led by Eric J. Toney, disclosed that both Antonio and Mejia are confronting multiple charges stemming from an incident on May 19. During this incident, Antonio's 12-year-old daughter purportedly managed to escape after enduring binding, blindfolding, and assault.
The DA's office and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office jointly conveyed this information in releases on Wednesday and May 20 respectively. Antonio was identified as the girl's mother in a criminal complaint. Authorities uncovered that both ELIA [Antonio] and JUAN [Carlos Rocha Mejia] are residing illegally in the United States, with ICE placing a detainer on them, as stated in the complaint against Antonio.
The 12-year-old girl bravely resisted Mejia's attempts to confine her and sought refuge in a nearby residence, prompting the occupant to contact the sheriff's office, according to a post on the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Facebook page. Court documents reveal Mejia was accused of a previous assault on the girl in December but remained uncharged.
Prosecutors have leveled severe charges against Antonio, including trafficking of a child, failure to protect a child, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, potentially carrying a sentence of up to 54 years in prison if convicted on all counts. Meanwhile, Mejia faces charges of first-degree child sex assault, child enticement, false imprisonment, and strangulation and suffocation, which could lead to a maximum of 97 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
