Trump Takes 3 Point Lead In Virginia

A new VCU poll reveals former President Trump edging out President Biden by 3 points in Virginia, signaling a significant shift in a state Biden comfortably won in 2020.

A new poll from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) — Wilder School shows former President Trump leading President Biden by 3 points in Virginia, a state Biden easily carried in 2020.

According to a press release shared with The Hill, Trump has 39 percent support while Biden has 36 percent. Biden’s support has dropped 6 percentage points since the poll was last conducted in December, while Trump’s support remains unchanged.

The poll highlights that the difference between Biden's and Trump's support falls within the margin of error but indicates a shift towards Trump among respondents. Additionally, 9 percent of Virginians said they would vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 2 percent for Jill Stein, and 1 percent for Cornel West.

Among Democrats, 75 percent said they would vote for Biden, while 82 percent of Republicans expressed support for Trump. Six percent of respondents from each party indicated they would support Kennedy.
