A new poll reveals a surprising shift in New Hampshire, with former President Donald Trump now leading President Biden by 2 points, marking a dramatic 12-point swing since December.
Former President Donald Trump has surged ahead of President Biden in New Hampshire, marking a 12-point shift since December, according to a new survey.
Trump narrowly leads Biden 44% to 42%, with 4% of voters opting for Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as per a St. Anselm College Survey Center poll.
This is a significant change from last December when the same survey had Biden ahead with 49%, compared to Trump’s 39% and Kennedy’s 8%.
Unlike the December poll, the latest survey includes new third-party contenders such as Libertarian Chase Oliver (0%), Green Party candidate Jill Stein (1%), and Independent Cornel West (1%). “Biden leads among voters who dislike both candidates. However, more Democratic voters are drifting toward independent candidates than their Republican counterparts,” explained Neil Levesque, executive director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.
While 89% of Republicans firmly support Trump, Biden secures the backing of only 82% of Democrats.
Despite having a Republican governor and legislature, the GOP hasn’t won a presidential race in New Hampshire since 2000. The state holds just four votes in the Electoral College.
