Top Harris Advisor "Trump Must Be Destroyed Thoroughly"

A resurfaced 2016 post from Kamala Harris’ senior adviser David Plouffe, calling for the destruction of Donald Trump and “his kind,” is drawing attention after a second assassination attempt on the former president, reigniting concerns over dangerous political rhetoric.

Kamala Harris’ senior adviser, David Plouffe, is facing renewed scrutiny after a resurfaced 2016 post where he called for the extermination of Donald Trump and “his kind.” Plouffe, who previously served as a senior adviser to President Barack Obama, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “It is not enough to simply beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again.”

This controversial post has resurfaced following a second assassination attempt on Trump, which was thwarted by Secret Service agents at his Florida golf course on Sunday. The Trump campaign quickly pointed out Plouffe's past statement, noting his high-ranking position on Vice President Kamala Harris' team, saying, "This guy is now a top official on Kamala Harris’ campaign."

The incident marks the second assassination attempt in two months, after a previous attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman nearly killed Trump, injuring bystanders in the process. The Trump campaign has linked the rhetoric of Democrats and Never Trumpers, who have long labeled Trump a “threat” to democracy, to the rising danger against the former president.

Critics of Trump have repeatedly accused him of being an "insurrectionist" and falsely charged him with aspiring to dictatorship. However, the rise in violent incidents targeting him is raising questions about the role such rhetoric may be playing in inflaming political tensions.
