Four retired military leaders have accused Democratic presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) of inflating his military record and repeatedly lying about key details of his past, sparking a storm of criticism ahead of the election.
Four retired military leaders criticized Democratic presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) on Monday, accusing him of inflating his military record and dodging a deployment to Iraq. During an interview on *The Megyn Kelly Show*, Minnesota National Guard Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Paul Herr labeled Walz a "habitual liar."
“He lies about everything,” Herr said. “Even about things that don’t make sense.”
Walz, who for nearly two decades claimed to be a "retired command sergeant major," was actually a "retired master sergeant"—one rank lower.
Herr, along with three other retired Minnesota National Guard leaders, pointed out other discrepancies in Walz's stories. “He says he was a football coach. In reality, he was an assistant coach, and was fired after a DUI, for which he falsely claimed to be deaf to avoid repercussions,” Herr noted.
Additionally, Walz falsely claimed to have carried weapons "in war" despite never deploying to a combat zone. The Harris-Walz campaign later said he "misspoke," while Walz attributed the error to "grammar" and speaking passionately during a CNN interview.
Another claim involved the conception of his children, where Walz stated he used in vitro fertilization, though his wife actually used intrauterine insemination.
“It’s just one lie after another," Herr added. "They keep piling up, and eventually, you can’t hide them all.”
