Full Report:

First, it was Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Now, it seems former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is the next top Democrat working behind the scenes to pressure President Joe Biden to reconsider his position as the party's nominee for the upcoming November election.

Pelosi, known for her firm leadership as Speaker, has been engaging with various House Democrats about delaying the decision to support Biden as the nominee against former President Donald Trump, according to The Hill. This report cites several Democrat lawmakers familiar with her efforts.

"I did have a conversation with her, she is very concerned," said an anonymous House Democrat. "It's not like she's like, 'We're sticking with this guy.'"

Since Biden's poorly received debate performance against Trump, the Democratic Party has been uncertain about what to do with Biden, 81. Concerns about his mental competency have grown, raising the question of whether Democrats should seek a younger nominee, such as Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday, Biden remained resolute against calls for him to step down and demanded an end to the intraparty conflict that has plagued the party since his debate performance.

On Wednesday, Axios reported that Schumer is privately signaling to donors that he is open to replacing Biden as the Democrat nominee.

Pelosi, according to some Democrats, is voicing concerns from other lawmakers who feel the decision about Biden's future is being made without their input.

"Pelosi speaks for the sense that, if you're going to circle the wagons, you need a lot more wagons in the circle," a second Democrat lawmaker told The Hill. "You have to have a real conversation with people to decide it all together. And you can't present people with a judgment."

Pelosi is urging vulnerable Democrat lawmakers to do whatever it takes to keep their seats, even if it means publicly calling for Biden to step aside. She has also advised lawmakers in safe Democrat districts to take their concerns directly to the White House.

While Pelosi declined to comment to The Hill about these efforts, her spokesperson, Ian Krager, issued a statement saying she supports whatever decision Biden makes.

"Speaker Pelosi fully supports whatever President Biden decides to do," Krager said. "We must turn our attention to why this race is so important: Donald Trump would be a disaster for our country and our democracy."
