Rapper Lil Pump has strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her the “worst” vice president “in American history” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The rapper shared a photo of himself with former President Donald Trump and slammed Harris for her record on marijuana-related convictions.
Lil Pump pointed out that Harris “locked up over 1,500 people for weed-related crimes” during her time as district attorney for San Francisco. “Kamala Harris isn’t even black… she’s Indian,” he wrote. “She locked up over 1,500 people for weed-related crimes and then laughed about it years later. The worst VP in American history. Trump 2024.”
Harris' tenure as district attorney saw nearly 2,000 convictions for marijuana-related offenses, according to the Bay Area News Group and reported by the Mercury News in 2019. Her office's prosecutors convicted individuals on marijuana charges at a higher rate than her predecessor, though most low-level offenders were not imprisoned, and only a few dozen were sent to state prison.
In a February 2019 interview, Harris admitted to having smoked marijuana in college, which she laughed about. This admission drew criticism, particularly from former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (I-HI) during a Democrat primary debate in July 2019. Gabbard highlighted Harris’s prosecutorial record, noting she had “put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations,” citing data from the Washington Free Beacon.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that between 2011 and 2016, at least 1,560 people were sent to state prisons for marijuana-related offenses while Harris was California's attorney general. A spokesperson from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the number was around 1,974.
However, the Mercury News clarified that Gabbard’s figures included the entire state of California during Harris’s tenure as attorney general, not just San Francisco.
This is not the first time Lil Pump has shown support for Trump. In January, the rapper revealed a tattoo on his thigh honoring Trump, calling him the “greatest president of all time.” The tattoo appeared to depict Trump’s mugshot from August 2023. Lil Pump also endorsed Trump in October 2020 on Instagram and criticized President Joe Biden’s proposed tax hike. Trump even invited Lil Pump on stage during his final rally in 2020 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
