In a significant law enforcement action, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Jefferson Jerome, a 30-year-old Haitian national, on September 11 in Dorchester. Jerome is facing serious charges of sexual assault and battery, raising concerns among community members about safety.
“Jefferson Jerome stands accused of a serious crime against a resident of our Massachusetts community,” stated Todd M. Lyons, Director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Boston. “We will not tolerate the victimization of our neighbors. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending individuals who may pose a risk to our communities.”
Jerome's legal troubles began in September 2021 when he entered the United States near Del Rio, Texas, without proper authorization. After being returned to Mexico by Border Patrol, he reportedly re-entered the U.S. in December 2022. Following his apprehension by Customs and Border Protection, he was given orders to appear before an immigration judge, but his subsequent legal issues have brought him back into the spotlight.
