New ABC Poll: Trump Approval Increases Post Verdict

ABC News just released a new poll showing that voters’ approval of former President Trump have actually increased post the New York City verdict last week.

According to an ABC News poll released Sunday, despite the recent conviction of former President Donald Trump by Democrat Manhattan prosecutor Alvin Bragg, his favorability rating saw a slight increase but remained statistically similar to March 2024. This outcome suggests that the conviction, which some legal experts considered secured through innovative legal approaches, did not significantly alter public sentiment toward Trump. Trump has vowed to appeal the verdict, with the sentencing scheduled for mid-July before the Republican Party's convention.

The survey, conducted from May 31 to June 1 with a 3.7 point margin of error, sampled 781 adults. Trump's favorability rose to 31 percent from 29 percent in March, while President Biden's dropped slightly from 33 percent to 32 percent during the same period.

Biden defended the conviction of his political rival, labeling Trump's claims of a "rigged" process as "reckless." He noted the strategic decision by Trump's legal team to select a Manhattan jury, a demographic known to lean left, as highlighted by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman during the jury selection process.

In response to the guilty verdict, Trump's campaign reported a significant surge in online donations, totaling $52.8 million within 24 hours. Trump emphasized the broader implications of his case, stating, "This is bigger than Trump. This is bigger than me." He urged supporters to "Make America great again" and to "Remember November 5," hinting at future political actions.
