In a fiery appearance on Newsmax, Matt Schlapp, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, delivered a scathing critique of the Democrat Party, accusing them of aligning with criminal interests by opposing the Laken Riley Act and embracing open-border policies. Schlapp argued that these positions reveal the Democrats' clear disregard for the safety and well-being of American citizens.

The Laken Riley Act, named after a Georgia college student who was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant, seeks to close loopholes that allow violent criminals to evade justice. Schlapp emphasized the act’s necessity, citing numerous cases where lenient policies allowed dangerous individuals to re-offend, often with devastating consequences.

"Opposing the Laken Riley Act is nothing short of a betrayal of crime victims across the country," Schlapp said. "It’s a clear signal that Democrats are more interested in protecting criminals than ensuring justice for innocent Americans."

Despite broad public support for tougher sentencing laws, the Democrat-controlled Congress has resisted the bill. Schlapp pointed to this resistance as evidence of a radical shift in the party’s priorities.

Schlapp also took aim at the Democrats' open-border policies, linking them to a surge in crime, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. He argued that the lack of border enforcement directly endangers communities across the nation.

"Every day, we see the consequences of this reckless open-border agenda: fentanyl flooding our streets, human traffickers operating with impunity, and violent criminals entering our country unchecked," Schlapp stated.

He highlighted data showing a spike in violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants and called out the Biden-Harris administration for failing to prioritize border security.

Schlapp contrasted the Democrat Party’s stance with the Republican commitment to law and order. He praised Republican lawmakers for championing the Laken Riley Act and working to secure the border, declaring these efforts essential to restoring public safety.

"While Democrats turn their backs on victims and embrace policies that embolden criminals, Republicans are standing firm for the rule of law and the rights of everyday Americans," Schlapp said.

Schlapp concluded by urging Americans to demand accountability from their leaders. He encouraged citizens to push for the passage of the Laken Riley Act and support policies that protect the nation’s borders.

"The choice is clear: Do we want a government that prioritizes criminals or one that defends law-abiding citizens?" Schlapp asked.
