In a recent episode of Human Events with Jack Posobiec, columnist Kenny Cody exposed the federal government's lackluster response to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has wreaked havoc across east Tennessee and western North Carolina. Cody, a prominent conservative voice, emphasized that while federal officials were slow to act, state and local authorities were the real heroes in the disaster relief efforts.
Cody pointed out that many communities in Tennessee and North Carolina were left stranded and without basic necessities, but it was the quick action of local government officials and first responders that mitigated the damage. “Our state government is doing great. Our local government is doing fantastic. I can't say that much about the federal government even if the funding has been approved and hopefully there is more of a Congressional aid package coming for east Tennesse, coming for the affected flood areas in the southeaster United States, but really the people that are helping us out the most are those local officials, those state officials,” Cody said.
Cody credited the Tennessee and North Carolina state governments with organizing shelters and securing essential supplies for those affected. He also highlighted the work of volunteers and local organizations that have been on the frontlines, providing food, water, and medical care to residents in hard-hit areas.
Cody's observations point to the effectiveness of authorities closest to disasters as well as the inaction of the Biden administration.
