A previously deported man is now facing charges in Shelby Township, Michigan, accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl under 13 years old, sparking outrage over how he managed to re-enter the United States.
Joel Quintana-Dominguez, a 32-year-old man who was previously deported from the United States, has been arrested and charged with the repeated sexual assault of a young girl under 13 years old in Shelby Township, Michigan.
The arrest came on July 15 when Quintana-Dominguez was apprehended by the Shelby Township Police Department in Macomb County. According to Police Chief Robert Shelide, Quintana-Dominguez was attempting to flee the country after being alerted to the investigation against him.
Shelide stated that Quintana-Dominguez is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the young girl and has been charged with three counts of felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The investigation revealed that Quintana-Dominguez is an illegal alien who had been deported previously from the U.S.
"I am disgusted and sickened after hearing the details of this case and the charges against Quintana-Dominguez," Shelide said. "It is appalling that he had been deported before and managed to re-enter the United States. Actions like these from illegal aliens are harming our country. I would like to thank our detective bureau for their swift work in bringing him into custody."
Quintana-Dominguez remains in custody in Shelby Township with a bond set at $500,000.
