A previously deported illegal alien and his girlfriend have been arrested in Fairfax County, Virginia, after police discovered two young boys chained inside their apartment.
Franklin Viera Guevara, a 29-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador, and his 47-year-old girlfriend, Wedni Del Cid Rodriguez, are facing charges of child neglect, cruelty, and abduction. Police responded to a call on August 15 and found Rodriguez’s two sons, ages seven and nine, chained by their ankles to a post near a sleeping cot.
The boys' plight was discovered when one of them secretly took a photo of his chained ankle and sent it to his sister, who alerted the police. When questioned, Guevara and Rodriguez reportedly claimed the chains were meant to "scare" the boys into staying in the apartment.
Guevara had previously been deported to El Salvador in February 2019 after being arrested for illegal entry near McAllen, Texas. Despite his deportation, he re-entered the U.S. illegally and eventually settled in Fairfax County with Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has been released on bond, but Guevara remains in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer for Guevara, seeking to take him into custody if he is released.
