Nassau County Police arrest a suspect in the assault of a 5-year-old girl, urging the public to come forward with any additional information.
The Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) announced the arrest of a 26-year-old man suspected in the assault of a 5-year-old girl on Long Island. The suspect, identified by law enforcement as Wilson Castillo Diaz, was taken into custody on October 22, following an investigation led by the NCPD’s Special Victims Squad.
According to the police report, the alleged incident took place on October 16. Following the incident, the child was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, where healthcare professionals ensured her care. Detectives involved in the case noted that Diaz entered the U.S. in 2014 and had missed an immigration hearing scheduled for him after being detained and released at the border.
The Nassau County Police Department has encouraged anyone with additional information or potential cases involving the suspect to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers or the NCPD Special Victims Squad.
Diaz is currently charged with first-degree rape, attempted rape, and endangering the welfare of a child.
