Matt Whitaker on Newsmax: Elon Musk Targeted by Biden-Harris Justice Department, Calls Out 'Double Standard' of Justice

Top Points:

  • Targeted Scrutiny of Elon Musk: Matt Whitaker claims that the Biden-Harris Justice Department is specifically targeting Elon Musk due to his outspoken stance on free speech and government overreach and involvement in the 2024 presidential election. Whitaker suggests that Musk’s regulatory troubles are politically motivated rather than routine oversight.

  • Double Standard of Justice: Whitaker argues that the administration employs a “double standard of justice,” where those aligned with Democratic policies face less scrutiny, while influential figures who challenge the administration, like Musk, are subjected to increased investigations.

  • Chilling Effect on Free Speech: Whitaker warns that these actions against Musk are intended to send a message to other leaders that dissent or disagreement with the administration may lead to punitive consequences, ultimately undermining free speech and transparency in the justice system.

Full Report:

On a recent Newsmax segment, former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker raised serious concerns over what he described as a targeted campaign by the Biden-Harris Justice Department against Elon Musk. Whitaker accused the administration of employing a "double standard of justice," suggesting that powerful figures like Musk—who openly challenge or disagree with the administration—face harsher scrutiny than those aligned with their political interests.

Musk has been under scrutiny for his involvement with President Trump's campaign which includes efforts to encourage voting that have garnered the attention of the Biden-Harris DOJ.

Musk’s increasing regulatory troubles are also evidence of this double standard. As Musk has taken public stances advocating for free speech on X (formerly Twitter) and challenged government narratives on various issues, Whitaker argued that the scrutiny on Musk’s business practices through heightened investigations into Tesla and SpaceX seems less about oversight and more about intimidation.

“Any business leader that doesn’t toe the line of the administration’s agenda runs the risk of becoming a target,” Whitaker remarked on Newsmax, explaining that the Justice Department's actions could dissuade other leaders from speaking out against government policies.

Whitaker also underscored his argument by contrasting Musk’s situation with cases involving Democratic allies who have faced comparatively less scrutiny. He mentioned that, under the current administration, business figures supportive of or aligned with Democrat policies appear to escape similar levels of investigation, highlighting the absence of a level playing field.

“This isn’t just about Musk,” Whitaker added, “it’s about sending a message to everyone else that dissent is punishable.” He noted that Musk’s influence over high-profile companies—like SpaceX, Tesla, and X—means that his opinions and reach have significant weight, making him an even more threatening figure to an administration that wants control over key national narratives.

On Newsmax, Whitaker called on the American people to demand accountability within the justice system and reject politically motivated investigations. “We need consistency in the application of justice—whether it’s Elon Musk or anyone else,” he urged, highlighting that a nation built on the rule of law should not tolerate double standards that serve political ends.

Whitaker’s message was clear: Americans must stand up to selective enforcement. He warned that allowing the government to selectively punish political dissenters could pave the way for widespread censorship and government overreach.

In his closing remarks, Whitaker reminded viewers that the principles of transparency and fair treatment within the justice system are foundational to American democracy, and that without these, trust in government can erode quickly.
