Kamala Harris has committed to signing a $14 trillion reparations bill for Black Americans if elected President, despite 68% of Americans opposing such payments, according to recent Pew polling.
Kamala Harris has vowed that, if elected President, she will sign federal legislation providing reparations for slavery to every Black American. The proposed bill calls for at least $14 trillion in payments.
In a newly released video from a meeting with Reverend Al Sharpton, Sharpton directly asks Harris if she would sign the bill. Harris responds unequivocally, “When I am elected President, I will sign that bill.”
This stance is particularly bold given the latest Pew polling, which shows that 68% of Americans oppose government-funded reparations. While California is considering its own reparations plan and the Governor has yet to take a firm position, Harris is the first major party candidate to publicly commit to such legislation.
