Pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted New York City's July 4th celebrations, burning American flags and chanting anti-Israel slogans, highlighting rising concerns over growing antisemitism in the U.S.
Pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the July 4th fireworks in New York City by marching through the streets, burning American flags, and chanting anti-Israel slogans.
A live video of the march on Thursday has intensified concerns about the increase in anti-Jewish sentiments that have emerged over the past year.
According to the New York Post, approximately 100 people gathered in Washington Square Park, shouting slogans like “Burn it down!” as part of the “Flood Manhattan for July 4th” demonstration.
Police reported at least one arrest, but did not disclose the charges.
The video shows a New Yorker in a Yankees hat attempting to engage with the protesters, only to be shouted down by a man in glasses who loudly cheers, “F–k Israel! F–k America! Woohoo!” as others in the group laugh in agreement.
The footage then shows a burned American flag next to a poster depicting Trump and Biden wearing crowns with the words “DEATH TO ALL KINGS” in large letters.
As reported by Breitbart News, a recent Gallup survey found that 49 percent of Americans believe antisemitism has become a serious problem in the United States. The survey, published on Monday, also revealed that 32 percent of respondents consider it somewhat of a problem, while 10 percent believe it is not much of a problem.
