Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY) doubled down on his criticism of Senator JD Vance (R-OH) during an interview on MSNBC's *Andrea Mitchell Reports* on Tuesday, sparking a social media firestorm. Beshear had previously called out Vance for his stance on pregnancies resulting from rape, suggesting that Vance should personally understand the trauma.

Beshear had earlier remarked, “JD Vance calls pregnancy resulting from rape ‘inconvenient.’ Inconvenience is traffic. Make him go through this,” which drew widespread attention and backlash, with Vance tweeting, "Why is Andy Beshear wishing that a member of my family would get raped? What a disgusting person.”

In response, Beshear dismissed Vance’s criticism, calling it a deflection from the real issue. “JD Vance knows that he and Donald Trump are so wrong on this issue, and so he’s trying to make himself the victim," Beshear said. He pointed to the real victims, including women like Hadley Duvall and others who have faced difficult pregnancies, and expressed disappointment at Vance’s lack of empathy.

“I’d never wish harm on anyone,” Beshear clarified. “But again, it’s deflection—trying to make himself and Donald Trump the victims instead of recognizing the importance of reproductive freedom.”
