Deported Once, Harris Policies Allowed Return, Now Arrested For Assault

A previously deported Guatemalan man, Felix Alberto Perez-Gomez, faces serious charges after allegedly assaulting a woman on Nantucket, raising concerns about safety on the affluent island and highlighting ongoing issues with illegal immigration.

A man previously deported from the United States is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a woman on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Felix Alberto Perez-Gomez, 41, originally from Guatemala, was arraigned on August 19 in Nantucket District Court on charges of indecent assault and battery involving a person 14 years or older.

Perez-Gomez first entered the United States illegally before June 2011, when he was arrested in Pennsylvania for reckless driving. After serving probation for those charges, he was ordered deported and returned to Guatemala in August 2011.

Allegations have surfaced that he re-entered the country undetected before August 2023. According to reports, he is accused of picking up a woman in his vehicle and assaulting her. Perez-Gomez is scheduled to appear in court again on October 28.

On September 11, agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took Perez-Gomez into custody, and he is currently awaiting his next court date.

Nantucket has recently seen a series of arrests involving individuals who entered the country without legal status. These cases have raised concerns within the community regarding safety and security.
