Democrats Investigated for Campaign Finance Fraud

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is investigating ActBlue for allegedly using stolen identities and credit cards in fundraising, amid rising concerns of "ghost donors" making thousands of donations nationwide.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has initiated an investigation into ActBlue, scrutinizing allegations of illegal fundraising tactics involving stolen identities and credit cards. Miyares reassured the public via social media, stating, "My office is aware of these allegations and rest assured, we are looking into it."

Campaign finance watchdogs highlighted one case involving a Virginia resident who, according to ActBlue records, donated 22,619 times in two years, totaling over $839,000. This individual is reportedly almost 80 years old and rents a small apartment. The issue of "ghost donors" is surfacing nationwide, with thousands of instances where individuals are listed as making numerous donations amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars each.

ActBlue, the fundraising platform for Democratic candidates, attracted suspicion this week when it was revealed that the platform no longer verifies that the donor's name and address match those on the credit card used. ActBlue reportedly pays higher fees to credit card companies to bypass the verification process of names and addresses.
