Democrat Congresswoman Meng Exposed By Latest Chinese Spy Arrest

New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng’s longstanding ties to an organization linked to Chinese intelligence are raising alarms, following the indictment of her former chief of staff on charges of acting as an unregistered foreign agent for China.

New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng is facing new scrutiny over her longstanding ties to a New York-based organization reportedly linked to China’s intelligence apparatus. The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) uncovered Meng's decade-long association with the Henan Association of Eastern America (HAEA), an organization that has been linked to China's United Front Work Department, a Chinese intelligence agency responsible for influence operations abroad.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently indicted Linda Sun, Meng’s former chief of staff during her time in the New York State Assembly, on charges of acting as an unregistered foreign agent for China and engaging in money laundering. Sun, who also held roles in the offices of two New York governors, is accused of covertly working on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), allegedly helping government officials from China’s Henan province fraudulently obtain visas.

Meng, who has not been named in the DOJ indictment, has deep connections to HAEA, which dates back to 2008 when she and her mother, a native of Henan province, were listed as members. Meng has held leadership roles within the group, including "deputy chairwoman" and currently "honorary chairwoman." The congresswoman’s office has not responded to multiple requests for comment about her relationship with the organization, which the DOJ describes as closely associated with the CCP’s influence operations.

The DOJ's indictment also implicates Sun in a broader scheme involving co-conspirators tied to the CCP. Sun allegedly used her government positions to invite Chinese officials to the U.S. under false pretenses, facilitating illegal activities that benefited her husband’s businesses in Henan.

While Meng has not been charged with any wrongdoing, her ties to HAEA and association with Sun raise serious questions about her relationship with an organization reportedly connected to Chinese intelligence efforts. The controversy threatens to cast a shadow over Meng’s political career as concerns grow over foreign influence in U.S. politics.
