In the heart of Chicago's Streeterville, a romantic evening turns into a nightmare as a husband and wife face a brutal assault at the hands of two teenagers, sparking a chilling tale of violence and unanswered questions.
In Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, a couple's evening took a terrifying turn when they were reportedly assaulted by two teenagers while on a date, as per Fox32 Chicago.
The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and McClurg Court. Surrounded by a group of teens, the husband and wife endured a barrage of kicks, stomps, and punches, as detailed in the report.
Nina, who chose not to reveal her face on camera, bravely shared images with the local news, displaying a chunk of her hair torn out and a bruised eye. Her husband, too, was reportedly held down and subjected to the attack.
According to Nina, the assault was not motivated by robbery; rather, the teens pepper-sprayed her and targeted her stomach with kicks. Shockingly, Nina, who was two weeks pregnant at the time, later discovered she had lost the baby due to the beating.
"We have faith, and we believe things happen for a reason. It's a tragedy, but we're trying to understand," Nina expressed.
Following the incident, Chicago police swiftly intervened, arresting a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl. Both are now facing charges of misdemeanor battery.
Recalling the ordeal, Nina described how the teens asserted ownership of the street, berating her for her attire and behavior. "They dragged my dress on the ground, saying, 'We own the street. You can't just walk around,'" she recounted, puzzled by their inexplicable aggression.
The Chicago Police Department has launched an investigation into the attack. Although inquiries were made regarding potential additional charges, responses from the Cook County State Attorney’s Office were not forthcoming at the time of reporting.
