As President Biden and former President Trump prepare for a high-stakes 2024 election rematch, Biden's attorney Bob Bauer is already bracing for potential legal battles, drawing eerie parallels to the dramatic fallout from the 2020 election.
Bob Bauer, President Biden’s personal attorney, indicated that he is gearing up for potential legal disputes over the 2024 election results, as Biden is set to face former President Trump in a rematch of the 2020 election. Bauer expressed concern over possible challenges, referencing the contentious aftermath of the 2020 election.
“We’re witnessing election officials saying, ‘If I’m not satisfied with the outcome, I may not certify it; I’ll just block it.’ This was notably evident in Michigan in 2020. We might see more of this behavior in the upcoming election,” Bauer noted.
After Biden's 2020 victory in Michigan, false electors submitted certifications to Congress claiming Trump had won the state. As a result, 16 Michigan GOP officials have been charged in connection with this scheme, and the Michigan attorney general’s office has named Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator in the ongoing investigation.
Prosecutors claim that the Trump campaign, along with allies including former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, collaborated with local GOP officials to overturn the 2020 results by submitting a fraudulent slate of Electoral College voters.
The Republican Party remains divided over commitments to accept the 2024 election results. Some senators reject the notion that a Biden win would be due to fraud, while others, including those on Trump’s shortlist for vice president, have not committed to accepting the results.
