A Biden administration official at the Department of Homeland Security is facing backlash after being exposed for using social media to encourage illegal immigration, sparking outrage over claims that his actions undermine U.S. border security and safety.
A Biden administration official at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has come under fire for allegedly using social media to encourage illegal immigration to the United States. Wilson Osorio, who joined DHS in 2023 and works as associate counsel for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Office of the Chief Counsel, has been exposed by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) for promoting a pro-immigration agenda on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
According to AAF, Osorio has been posting video content since July, featuring conversations with individuals who have entered the U.S. illegally. In these videos, he encourages them to share their experiences, often highlighting their financial success after immigrating illegally. One particularly notable Instagram post featured a Honduran immigrant who claimed that after two decades of hard work in the U.S., he was able to open a restaurant generating over $1 million in sales, exclaiming, “The American Dream is alive and well.”
These posts have sparked outrage, especially as they include tips on breaking U.S. immigration laws. Videos reportedly depict migrants earning good wages in the U.S. while planning to send most of their earnings back home. This practice, known as “remittances,” has reached staggering levels, with $656 billion sent back to families in 2023 alone, dwarfing the $61 billion in foreign aid the U.S. government provides.
Critics argue that Osorio’s actions exemplify a broader issue within the Biden administration, which they claim has fostered an environment conducive to illegal immigration. Thomas Jones, president of AAF, stated, “Wilson Osorio personifies the plague of unelected radical leftist bureaucrats turning this country upside down. Even as he collects his taxpayer-funded salary, Osorio pushes his radical open borders agenda that is endangering the safety, stability, and livelihoods of millions of Americans.”
Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee echoed these sentiments, condemning Osorio’s actions as a “severe breach of public trust.” He criticized the Biden administration, asserting that it has consistently undermined U.S. border security and invited illegal immigrants, including violent criminals, to enter the country.
In response to the backlash, Osorio has either locked down or deleted his social media accounts, and the DHS has yet to issue a statement regarding the controversy. As the Biden administration faces increasing scrutiny over its handling of immigration, the revelation of Osorio’s posts adds fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding border security and the impact of illegal immigration on American communities.
