As Chicago prepares to host the Democratic National Convention, at least 36 people were shot, six of them fatally, from Friday to Sunday night in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) city.
ABC 7 reported several fatal shootings, including one on Friday in the 10900-block of South Wentworth Avenue. A 42-year-old man was in a backyard with others when two individuals opened fire, shooting him multiple times. He died at the scene.
Just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head was found unresponsive on the ground. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
